Bird Flu Vaccine
Less than a week ago in this very spot, I posted Charles Krauthammer's piece in toto from the Washington Post lamneting post the restruction of the 1918 avian flu virus that killed 16 million people worldwide and the decision by the scientists to publish the genetic sequence. His take was that this was a stupid thing to do and would only aid our enemies.
Now, Hungarian officials have claimed to have developed a vaccine for the H5N1 avian flu that has all of the world's health organizations in a tizzy. In retrospect, I should have blogged the Krauthammer should have more faith in human ingenuity.
