In my opinion, the calculus is this: In Plan A, The Dems Power Base supports O as long as he is viable. If he should lose liability -- a very real possibility at this point -- then the Dems Power Base fall back to Plan B, which is to let O and his minions crash and burn and take the Chicago / Progressive machine along with it. Feel free to translate the term "Dems Power Base" as "The Clinton Shadow Government".
